Man Utd news: Sky Sports pundit names ONE Red who can inspire win against Liverpool

That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham. United head into the game at Anfield as the underdogs after a topsy-turvy start to the season which has left them 16 points adrift of their weekend opponents  Meanwhile, Liverpool are mounting a surge for their maiden Premier League title and reached the top-flight’s summit last weekend, gaining a one-point lead over Manchester City  Jurgen Klopp has not engineered a league win over United since taking the Merseyside post in October 2015, drawing three and losing two of the matches against their cross-city rivals  Furthermore, Liverpool side have not managed to score at home against The Red Devils under Klopp, with Mourinho’s Catenaccio approach producing two 0-0 draws in the last couple fixtures at Anfield  Former United defender Higginbotham believes Mourinho could mastermind an end to Liverpool’s unbeaten season, however, if Mata is allowed to flourish  “Unless Juan Mata is on the pitch, it is very difficult for United to see a player drift into that No 10 position ” Higginbotham wrote on Sky Sports. “So I think Mata becomes vital when a) United play against teams who will sit back and b) against sides like Liverpool, where you will be giving up possession and looking to play on the counter attack ” Mata has only made seven league starts for United this term, often on the right wing, where the 30-year-old nevertheless looks to drift inside onto his left foot  “United have got plenty of pace in the team to stretch oppositions, but in order to utilise that, you need players to get into the space that has been created by others,” Higginbotham added  “Nobody is doing that in this situation for United, so they are having to go backwards and sideways The game then slows down. “I think if Mata does start, he won’t be asked to do too much of the defensive work  “I think he’ll be told to get himself into an area, when United are defending, where he can’t be picked up  “When United pick the ball up, their first pass would be to Mata. “If they are able to do that, instead of playing the one long ball from defence to attack under a lot of pressure  “If they can find Mata free, all of a sudden they might have a Lingard, a Rashford, a Martial running off him down the channels ”
